Privacy Policy

Your saves are yours. We don't run ads, we don't sell data, and we never will. This page explains, plainly, what Skiff collects and why.

What Skiff is

Skiff is a browser extension and web app that saves content you are viewing — X posts and threads, Reddit threads, YouTube videos, and web articles — as clean text into a personal library, which you can connect to your AI assistant (such as Claude) to read back.

What we collect

• Your account: your email address and a securely hashed password.
• Your saves: only the content you explicitly choose to save by clicking Save or using the keyboard shortcut. Skiff captures the page you are actively viewing — it never crawls, browses, or collects pages in the background, and it does not track your browsing history.
• Basic usage counts: how many items you've saved this month, to apply your plan's limits.
• Payment: if you subscribe, payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

How your saved content is used

• Your saves are stored so you can search and read them. They are visible to your account only — never shared, published, or shown to any other person.
• When you connect Skiff to an AI assistant, that assistant can read your saved library only when you ask it to, through a personal connector link scoped to your account. You control that connection and can remove it at any time.
• Video transcription is performed by a third-party speech-to-text provider on the audio of videos you save, solely to produce the transcript stored in your library.

What we never do

• We never sell, rent, or share your personal data or your saves with advertisers or data brokers.
• We never show ads.
• We never collect your browsing activity or read pages you didn't choose to save.

Your control

• Export: you can export your entire library as clean text or markdown at any time, on any plan.
• Deletion: you can delete any save, or your whole account and all associated data, at any time. Deletion is permanent.
• Disconnect: you can revoke your AI-assistant connector whenever you like.

Data retention & security

We keep your saves until you delete them or close your account. Media files fetched for transcription are discarded after the transcript is produced; we retain the text, not the video. Data is encrypted in transit.
